Through his unseen narration (Woody Allen) a Jewish man reminisces about his youth, during the 30s and ’40s in lower middle-class New York. Though his memories, we enter the warm and Jewish family-centric all enveloping world of his adolescence. The common denominator in all his stories is the presence of the radio (in pre-TV days) which brought music, news, stories, escape, and comfort, made stars of everyday people, and was often the glue that bound family and friendship. Woody Allen does not appear in this funny, gentle nostalgic and part autobiographical look at his childhood. Starring Julie Kavner and Mia Farrow. This is a delightful movie and (in my opinion – love him or hate him) one of his best.
