Our communal synagogue space was designed to be as flexible as possible and a deliberate decision was made to create a neutral space with design and colour to enhance the building with contemporary designs with a Judaic theme.
Coming into you will see a wall of Jerusalem stone with a colourful wall hanging, one of many throughout the building created by a dedicated team of stitchers. This team created the chairback book-holders with practical and decorative geometric designs beautifully fitted to the chairs to accommodate prayer books. On the left of the entrance is the signature Mosaic logo handmade in glass by local artist Harriet Pelham with the welcome “SHALOM”. The stitcher ladies have also created several series of large colourful textile hangings. One set is based on the tradition and mitzvah to wear tallit with the fringes and tassels another set commemorates the exodus from Egypt and the journey to Jerusalem..
We mount regular Art Exhibitions to promote artists and simultaneously decorate our walls. See the calendar for details of upcoming exhibitions or events.
